Self-Defense Training (ISDF)

Evidence-based protection through biomechanics, psychology, and anatomy. Real-world techniques that work—regardless of size or strength.

What is ISDF?

The International Self Defense Federation (ISDF) is SOSFORALL's partner organization dedicated to teaching evidence-based self-defense techniques grounded in biomechanics, psychology, and anatomy.

Unlike traditional martial arts that require years of training or rely on physical strength, ISDF teaches practical, real-world techniques that anyone can learn—regardless of age, size, or fitness level. Our methods are designed for immediate application in dangerous situations.

ISDF training focuses on three core pillars: understanding how the human body works (biomechanics), recognizing and preventing dangerous situations (psychology), and targeting vulnerable points effectively (anatomy). This scientific approach ensures maximum effectiveness with minimum effort.

Three Pillars of ISDF Training

Science-backed self-defense that works in real-world situations.

Biomechanics

Leverage physics, body mechanics, and leverage—not brute strength. Techniques that work for anyone, regardless of size or strength.

Psychology

Understand attacker behavior, de-escalation tactics, and situational awareness. Prevention is the best defense.

Anatomy

Target vulnerable points effectively. Know exactly where and how to strike for maximum impact with minimum effort.

Training Levels

Structured progression from foundational skills to advanced instructor certification.

Foundation

8 weeks

Focus: Situational awareness, de-escalation, basic strikes, escape techniques

Learning Outcomes:

  • Recognize dangerous situations before they escalate
  • Verbal de-escalation skills
  • Basic defensive strikes and blocks
  • Escape from common holds and grabs

Intermediate

12 weeks

Focus: Ground defense, multiple attackers, weapon awareness, stress training

Learning Outcomes:

  • Defend against ground attacks
  • Handle multiple threat scenarios
  • Recognize and respond to weapon threats
  • Perform under high-stress conditions

Advanced

16 weeks

Focus: Complex scenarios, instructor training, trauma-informed defense

Learning Outcomes:

  • Teach self-defense to others
  • Handle complex, multi-threat scenarios
  • Trauma-informed defense for survivors
  • Certification as ISDF instructor

Who Can Benefit

ISDF training is designed for everyone—especially those most vulnerable to violence.

Women & Girls

Empowerment through proven techniques designed for smaller frames against larger attackers.

Young People

Build confidence, awareness, and practical skills for navigating unsafe environments.

Survivors of Violence

Trauma-informed training that rebuilds confidence and provides tangible protection skills.

High-Risk Professions

Healthcare workers, social workers, journalists—anyone facing potential violence at work.

Why ISDF is Different

Traditional Martial Arts

  • Requires years of training to be effective
  • Relies on physical strength and fitness
  • Sport-focused, not real-world scenarios
  • Techniques don't work against larger, stronger attackers

ISDF Self-Defense

  • Immediate practical application (weeks, not years)
  • Works for anyone—size and strength don't matter
  • Real-world scenarios and street-proven techniques
  • Biomechanical leverage defeats larger opponents
